Australian Clothing and Style
The Australian style and approach to dressing has been shaped over time into a laid-back and effortless way of living due to our climate and location. As we have always been a far distance from the rest of the world and our climate is opposite those say in the US or Europe, we have created our own unique way to dress.
Our love for summer and the outdoors means we often take a more relaxed approach, ‘can take you anywhere’, casually elegant vibe. You will see a lot of natural fibres and unpretentious summer/resort approach to our dressing. We have such an amazing outdoor lifestyle so it makes sense that our culture likes to dress this way.
Australian style is trans-seasonal. It is a style that is individual, confident and adventurous in design and versatility. Which is also echoed in our contemporary architecture, interiors and cuisine as well as our fashion. We are now starting to see our love for the sunshine and gorgeous, comfortable resort wear being embraced and appreciated by the rest of the world.
Australian designers shine in producing beautifully made clothing, well cut and classic pieces. Many also focus on quality natural fabrics and sustainability. Even though most manufacturing in Australia has been pushed offshore you can still find small to medium local businesses offering Australian made. These companies tend to focus on fabric, quality, fit and originality to separate them from fast, cheap fashion that cannot survive in an Australian market.
